"Game On" is The Fly's weekly recap of the stories powering up or beating down video game stocks.

NEW RELEASES: This week's major new release is Nintendo's (NTDOY) "Mario Strikers: Battle League," an arcade soccer game releasing exclusively for the Switch on June 10. "Battle League" is the third game in the "Mario Strikers" series and the first new entry since 2007's "Mario Strikers Charged" for the Nintendo Wii.

SUMMER GAME FEST: With the cancellation of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, eyes are on Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest, a series of video game showcases and announcements that began last Thursday with Sony's (SONY) State of Play event. During the showcase, the PlayStation owner highlighted a number of first- and third-party titles coming to the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR 2, including new trailers for Capcom's (CCOEY) "Street Fighter 6," Square Enix's (SQNXF) "Final Fantasy XVI," and Sony-published "Horizon: Call of the Mountain," which will be a PSVR2 exclusive title. In addition, Capcom during the showcase confirmed the upcoming release of a full remake of "Resident Evil 4," which will launch on consoles and PC on March 24, 2023.

Summer Game Fest continues this week, with the keynote Summer Game Fest event occuring June 9 at 11:00 am PT. While host Geoff Keighley stated that most of the Summer Game Fest trailers and updates will be for already announced titles, The Fly notes that at last year's Summer Game Fest, the final showing was a gameplay trailer for Bandai Namco's (NCBDY) "Elden Ring," which is currently one of the best selling games of 2022. Beyond the June 9 showcase, Microsoft's (MSFT) Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase will occur June 12 at 10:00 am PT with the company hosting an additional Xbox Games Showcase Extended on June 14 at 10:00 am PT. Other companies hosting online events during this time include Capcom and Sega (SGAMY), and Nintendo is expected to have a Direct presentation soon, though the company has not made any announcements about anything yet.
